Made up of 3-9 hole courses. You can play this course multiple times and have a different experience each time. This is a review of the Canyon 9 hole side

What they say
Combining playability with aesthetic beauty, The Phoenician's 27-hole championship facility is comprised of three memorable nines, each named for its surrounding landscape – Canyon, Desert and Oasis. Pristine desert views, lush tropical scenery, water features and all of the amenities that make golf a pleasure await you. The Phoenician has been named one of the four “Best Golf Resorts” by the Robb Report and is ranked among the “Top 75 Golf Resorts in America” by Golf Digest thanks to course designers Ted Robinson, Sr. and Homer Flint. Currently managed by Troon Golf, the leader in upscale golf course management, The Phoenician offers a truly spectacular setting to enjoy golf as its finest.

What we Say
A great track with many great views of surrounding Scottsdale and Camelback Mountain. The course is well maintained with crisp fairways and well manicured greens. The challenging holes offer a variety of shot shapes. It is easy to get lulled into a solid round only to be awoken by a dreaded triple bogey because the course challenges your accuracy. We will be back at the Phoenician to continue to go after the beautiful rounds that are available.

Hole 1: Very narrow landing zone. Bunker in the middle of fairway – 280 to carry from the tips, 240 to lay up short. The entire hole plays uphill with the second shot being even more uphill

Hole 2: Par 3, club down 1 ½ clubs. There is a bowl in the middle left of green.

Hole3: Blind green with a bunker on the left side of the green

Hole4: Short par 5. Thread your drive between the bunkers and it will kick downhill and to the right. Do not miss the green right.

Hole5: Hit to the 150 marker for a flat lie. Green is higher elevation than it seems. The green looks like it breaks toward Camelback Mtn but not as much as you think. Don't over read the break.

Hole6: Play safe.

Hole7: Doesn't play as downhill as it seems. Play yardage to be safe.

Hole8: Very picturesque. Ignore the water and take dead aim. Not really a bad place on this green.

Hole9: Be careful here. Play it like a true par 5. Put your tee shot short of the bunker on the left. 250 from the tips. There is a lake that runs along the rightside and is blind from the tee box. It runs all the way to the green and in front. Very little reward for the risk.
